Notting Hill Carnival

Europe's largest street event, a celebration of Caribbean culture that has run through the streets of West London since 1966. It is free to attend: Saturday hosts the ticketed Panorama steel band competition, Sunday is the children's parade and family day, and Monday is the main adults' parade, with static soundsystems on corners throughout. Less a festival site than a city taken over.
